The University of Jaffna has entered into a new academic partnership with The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in Tamil Nadu, India, aimed at enhancing collaboration in Siddha Medicine education, research, and clinical training.The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 5 January 2026, marking a significant milestone for the Faculty of Siddha Medicine<\/font><\/a> at the University of Jaffna in strengthening international academic partnerships and advancing research in traditional medical systems.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the agreement, the two universities will collaborate on a range of academic and research initiatives. These include postgraduate and doctoral research training, enabling scholars from both institutions to engage in joint academic supervision and advanced training opportunities at both universities.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership will also facilitate the development of short- and long-term research and training programmes on areas of mutual interest in Siddha Medicine. In addition, the institutions plan to undertake joint research and development projects, particularly in clinical trials, drug standardization, and fundamental Siddha research, with support from external funding sources.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another key component of the collaboration is the organization of joint academic events, including symposia, workshops, conferences, and short-term courses. These activities are expected to foster knowledge exchange, promote interdisciplinary dialogue, and strengthen the global academic network in traditional medicine.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU further promotes faculty and student exchange programmes, allowing academics and students to participate in teaching, clinical exposure, and specialized training, including Varma therapy and other Siddha therapeutic practices, across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, both universities will work together to share library resources and knowledge systems, while also providing medical and technical consultancy services in relevant fields. The agreement also highlights the importance of digital and advanced technologies in supporting knowledge sharing and collaborative learning.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials from both institutions noted that the partnership will contribute to the advancement of Siddha medical education and research, while also strengthening academic ties between Sri Lanka and India in the field of traditional medicine.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
