The University of Jaffna successfully conducted a two-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) Workshop on 25 and 26 May 2026, providing students and staff with valuable insights into the transformative potential of AI in education, healthcare, research, and professional practice.
The first session was held on 25 May 2026 at the Hoover Auditorium, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, while the second session took place on 26 May 2026 at Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi. The programme was organized by the University Business Linkage (UBL) Unit and attracted enthusiastic participation from students, academics, and administrative staff.
The workshop featured Mr. Logan Nathan, Founder and Group CEO (Australia), technology leader, and author of Think Digital, as the keynote speaker. Drawing on more than 30 years of experience in information technology and digital transformation, he shared his perspectives on the growing influence of AI and emphasized the importance of developing the skills and mindset required to thrive in the digital era.
Participants were introduced to a range of practical AI applications through engaging presentations and live demonstrations. The sessions highlighted how AI can enhance productivity, support learning and research, improve communication, and contribute to innovation across various disciplines. Discussions also focused on the ethical and responsible use of AI technologies and the opportunities they present for future professionals.
The workshop encouraged participants to embrace emerging technologies, develop digital competencies, and prepare for the rapidly evolving global landscape. It also reinforced the University’s commitment to promoting innovation, industry engagement, and knowledge sharing among its academic community.
